How To Remove The Print Button In The Microsoft Exchange 2010 Outlook Web App WebReady View

I saw a question in one of the TechNet Exchange forums a few days ago. Someone wanted (for reasons of company policy) to remove or somehow disable the Print button in their Outlook Web Access WebReady document viewer. There is, as usual, no built-in way of doing it, but I came up with a relatively simple hack for it.

First, locate the WebReadyViewHead.aspx file in the C:\Program Files\Microsoft\Exchange Server\V14\ClientAccess\Owa folder on the Exchange CAS server. Make a backup copy, and then open it in Notepad. Some 60 lines into the file, you will see a line that starts with this text:

<td nowrap id=”btnPrnt”>

All you need to do is to remove this entire line, and save the file back, and the Print button will be gone.

Remember when you make changes like this, that these files are sometimes replaced by service packs and rollups. Make sure that you recheck any modded functionality afterwards.
